TAEA Conference

Attending the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) convention was a vibrant opportunity for me to promote Inspired by Optimism and foster deeper community connections through art. By engaging in such events, I am able to showcase the power of community art projects and workshops that bring people together in a shared creative experience. The convention served as a dynamic platform to not only display my passion for art, but also to interact with like-minded individuals who are equally passionate about utilizing art as a tool for community building.

Creating an interactive mural at the event was a highlight, especially as over 100 teachers participated, contributing their unique touches to a collective artwork. This collaborative project was designed to highlight the importance of working together toward a common goal and the autonomy of creative expression. It was inspiring to see educators engage with the mural, allowing them to experience firsthand the impact of art in fostering teamwork. This approach supports my mission to foster inclusivity and help teachers build strong teams within their schools and districts using group murals as a metaphor.

Furthermore, attending the convention allowed me to connect with other professionals and educators, facilitating a valuable exchange of ideas and strategies for integrating art into faculty team building and leadership workshops. These interactions not only broaden my network but also provide fresh insights and inspiration for future projects aimed at community and educational development through art. This experience reaffirms my commitment to using art as a powerful conduit for bringing together diverse groups to create something meaningful and impactful.
